Preparing for Your Pet Sitter

Preparing your Pet

  • Be sure your pet has an id collar &/or license (if required) and is wearing it.
  • Be sure your pet is up to date on all vaccinations. (Proof of vaccinations may be required)
  • Be sure there is enough food, treats, medications, cat litter, etc. for your entire trip left preferably on the kitchen counter or pantry.
  • Be sure leashes & toys are left out for your pet.
  • Please provide your Vet with the name of your pet sitter in the event of a medical emergency. For overseas trips, please leave credit card info with your vet.
  • Please prepare typed detailed instructions and leave for us on every service.

Preparing your Home

  • Please be courteous and leave your home neat and tidy.
  • Please leave your kitchen sink clean and free of dishes so that we may clean and rinse your pet's bowls daily.
  • Please provide plenty of paper towels and general cleaning supplies for any cleanup that may be necessary.
  • Set your thermostat at a comfortable temperature.
  • Please remove ALL accumulated pet waste in yards, garages, patios, & dog runs.
  • Cat box litter should be fully changed and clean at the start of your trip.
  • You may wish to inform your neighbor(s) that a pet sitter will be caring for your pet(s).
  • Close any doors that you don't wish your pet to have access.
  • Please leave your mail key and box number (if required) for us and we will kindly gather your mail each day.
  • We suggest that you stop your newspaper delivery while you're away.
  • Perishables should be removed from your refrigerator and counters for extended trips (i.e. milk, fruit, bread, meat).
  • Please empty all waste baskets and trash compactor bags before you leave.
  • Please mark your trash bins so we can identify them on trash day
  • Please unplug small appliances which may pose a fire hazard (i.e., coffee makers, hair dryers, toasters)
  • Pool areas & gates must be secured with locks.
